Rubin Winery – Rubin-Agro Kft. began as a passion project in 2013, born out of a love for wine. Over the years, it has grown into a full-scale commercial operation, with bottled production, expanding vineyards, and a growing team.
We are based in Balatonkeresztúr, a gem of the Balatonboglár Wine Region, located in the wine paradise of Somogy County on the southern shores of Lake Balaton. From the outset, our winery has followed the principles of organic viticulture, ensuring sustainable grape production. Both our winery and vineyards hold organic certification.
Our vineyards cover nearly 5 hectares, managed with care by Tamás Subosits, a dedicated organic winemaker, who leads the company alongside co-owners. Our close-knit team continues to grow, fostering a family-like atmosphere within our young winery. The grape varieties we cultivate include Olaszrizling, Chardonnay, Irsai Olivér, Grüner Veltliner, Fetească Neagră, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Blaufränkisch.
Vision and Achievements
Our goal is to share these local treasures with as many wine enthusiasts as possible, earning recognition and appreciation for the fruits of our labor. Our first commercially released vintage in 2017 was a resounding success, with our wines winning gold and silver awards at numerous wine competitions.
Organic and Biodynamic Practices
Rubin Winery specializes in organic wine production, with several recently acquired vineyards and the winery itself undergoing a transition to certified organic status. While full certification requires a three-year process, all our production processes— from vineyard cultivation to grape processing and bottling—already adhere to the standards of organic farming under the supervision of Biokontroll Hungária.
Our approach includes innovative methods, such as using only contact sprays without systemic chemicals, ensuring that the pure taste of the grapes shines through in every bottle. Within the next three years, we aim to fully transition to biodynamic wine production, aligning our operations with the lunar calendar. Such wineries are rare in Hungary, making our products truly unique in the market.
Innovations and Future Plans
Our team is currently working on producing orange wine for our 2019 portfolio, as well as crafting an Olaszrizling designed to be part of the Balaton Wine collection. Staying true to Hungarian traditions, we also plan to support and cultivate two native Carpathian Basin grape varieties—Fetească Neagră (Fekete Leányka) and Csókaszőlő—further enriching our wine selection.
At Rubin Winery, our commitment to innovation, tradition, and sustainability ensures that every bottle offers a special experience for wine lovers.
