I have over 20 years of experience in viticulture, and I can truly say it has been a wonderful journey! While I could tell many stories about the history of our family, our vineyards, our achievements, and our winemaking techniques, I would rather invite you to visit us in Fertőrákos, experience the magic of the place for yourself, and discover how we bring out the best from the raw materials through our winemaking process.
The biggest surprise of the year 2023 has been the most heartwarming—being chosen as a member of the Pannon Wine Masters Guild!
The members of this guild are recognized and value-creating Hungarian family wineries whose mission and philosophy align with the general principles of the Pannon Wine Masters Guild, and who feel responsible for the fate of the entire Hungarian Wine Region.
With this recognition, I am even more inspired and strengthened to continue our journey.
I warmly welcome guests by appointment, but for those who can't visit the wine region, I also offer home delivery within Hungary. More details can be found under the wine tasting/wine ordering section.
Our winery is located in the beautiful Fertő region, in the town of Fertőrákos, just near the Mörbisch border crossing. The vineyards are located along the bike path, and we warmly invite wine lovers to experience this charming, clean, and picturesque village. Nearby, you’ll find the famous Barlangszínház, the Fertőrákos Castle, the Pan-European Picnic Memorial Site, and the Mithras Sanctuary. From the tasting room, you can enjoy views of Lake Fertő, Hungarian gray cattle, sheep, racka sheep, pigs, and occasionally deer and horses—simply magnificent.
Our family's winemaking tradition dates back centuries. Our vineyards are located on the slopes between Fertőrákos and Balf, where the unique climate next to Lake Fertő, the excellent soil, and abundant sunshine provide everything our grapes need. Our main grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Kékfrankos, Zweigelt, Merlot, and Turán.
The winery was dreamed of by my father, József Luka, whose sudden passing was one of the greatest challenges I have faced in my life—continuing and flourishing this small estate.
We currently manage a total of three hectares, and we have achieved success both domestically and internationally. The way we make our wines combines our ancestors' self-imposed rules with modern winemaking techniques.
Two years ago, our winery was supported by Takács Rebeka, a viticulturist, winemaker, and plant doctor, who has become a key part of our team.
Like all small businesses, our winery is the result of the hard work of many wonderful and indispensable people. I would like to thank my family and friends for their support, and I also want to express my gratitude to my Austrian consultant, Rudolf Krizan, who taught us to approach viticulture with respect, love, and discipline.
Perhaps the best way to thank all of them is by continuing to produce outstanding wines year after year. This dedication has garnered attention from the industry, as we have been chosen among the "Winemakers of Winemakers" for over 10 years.
What can one expect when tasting Luka wines? A fascinating duality of masculine character and feminine elegance.
I believe that our wines are not just pleasant beverages but bottles of stories that tell of our town, our people, and our destiny.
I have made an effort to provide as much colorful information as possible for wine enthusiasts on our website. Read the articles written about us and get a glimpse into our lives through the photos.
