The Figula Winery was established in 1993 in the Balaton region, often referred to as the jewel of the Pannon landscape. The path was clear for us, as our great-grandfather, István Tolnay, was one of the most esteemed winemakers in Balatonfüred during the 19th century. To achieve the highest quality, every step of the process—from vineyard care to wine bottling—is carried out and supervised by the family. While respecting traditions, we also utilize the most modern techniques and technologies available.
Our vineyards are located within a 6-kilometer radius of the winery, in Balatonfüred, Balatonszőlős, Pécsely, Csopak, and Tihany.
With 30 hectares of land, we embrace the principles of terroir-focused winemaking. Each vineyard's yield is managed separately with strict yield limitations, allowing us to showcase the diversity of the wine region.
Thanks to conscientious and precise craftsmanship, our wines have earned significant recognition at numerous domestic and international competitions in Bordeaux, Brussels, and Paris. In 2000, Mihály Figula † was honored with Hungary’s highest professional accolade, the title of "Winemaker of the Year." He was also a member of the Hungarian Wine Academy and the Pannon Winemakers Guild, which unites Hungary’s leading wineries. His family proudly continues his legacy.
Our winery specializes in white wines, with 80% of our vineyards planted with white grape varieties and 20% with red.
Key grape varieties: Olaszrizling, Zenit, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Yellow Muscat, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Blaufränkisch.
Our winemaking philosophy prioritizes highlighting the unique characteristics of the terroir. Our selection includes both light, fruity, youthful wines and full-bodied, late-harvest, and long-aged wines. These distinct styles necessitate a dual approach to winemaking technology. Our goal is to establish a unique winery style that, combined with the potential of the terroir, results in exceptional quality wines.
