Čachtické Chotáre Winery is located at the northernmost reaches of the Little Carpathians wine region. The limestone bedrock covered with loess layers imparts freshness, fruitiness, and higher acidity to our wines. The soil on which our vineyards thrive is remarkably similar to the bedrock of France’s Bordeaux wine region.

The winery experienced its golden age during the reign of the infamous “Lady of Čachtice,” Countess Elizabeth Báthory, when Čachtice red wine even found its way to Maria Theresa’s court in Vienna.
