Our family business began its journey as a first-generation winery in Monor in 2020, driven by a deep love and respect for wine and vineyards. Unlike those with decades or centuries of winemaking experience in their lineage, we don’t have a history of viticulturist ancestors. However, the love for nature, the countryside, and vineyards has been ingrained in us since childhood. We spent our summer holidays with our grandparents in rural areas, where we developed a profound connection to the land—a value we hope to pass on to our own children.
The charm of the Monor Cellar Village captivated us the first time we walked up the hill—though it’s technically a 190-meter hill with a scenic lookout.
A Historic Cellar
Our cellar has a storied past, making it a legendary part of Strázsa Hill’s history. In the early 1900s, it operated as a liqueur distillery, but after its owner was labeled a kulak, it became property of the cooperative farm (TSZ). It was later a venue for lively gatherings before falling into disrepair, with its equipment lost and the cellar itself partially dismantled.
Meanwhile, Dr. John D. Németh, son of Németh Gábor, gained international renown as a wine expert in the United States. In Napa Valley, he developed a vast vineyard with Japanese backing. In 1991, he returned to Monor with his Japanese wife, visiting the ruins of his family’s cellar next to his father’s grave. His wife encouraged him to reinvest in the site and rebuild the family winery, but unfortunately, he passed away in 2000 before realizing this dream.
Our Estate and Vision
Our family cultivates 2.5 hectares of vineyards located in Monor and Bé nye. On our Bé nye estate, old vines were removed, and in April 2024, part of the vineyard was replanted. Bé nye, located on the southern foothills of the Gödöllő Hills, offers top-class, Category I soil perfect for viticulture. On our Monor property, we plan to establish new vineyards in 2025, preparing the area carefully this year to welcome the young vines.
Currently, we collaborate with some of the best winemakers and viticulturists in the region, sourcing grapes from them for our wine production. Their expertise with the local terroir is invaluable, enabling us to refine our techniques and processes for each harvest.
Our Team and Philosophy
András Fecske, the winemaker, co-owns the winery with his wife. Together with his father and three indispensable companions—Dominó, Néró, and Mazsola—he crafts wines with meticulous care, passion, and heart.
