The winery has been family-owned since 2005. Its main business is selling wine on tap, which provides the financial foundation for the enterprise. Bottled Besenyei wines followed after 2011, born out of passion, dedication and a commitment to quality.

“We only bottle wines we consider truly special—wines we believe could win a medal at a wine competition. We see enormous potential in blends, as well as in varietal wines with distinctive personalities, such as Kékfrankos, Turán, Kadarka and Leányka.”

The family owns nearly 34 hectares of vineyards in Andornaktálya, near Eger, allowing them to grow most of the grapes they need each year on their own land. The vineyards are planted predominantly with red varieties: Kékfrankos, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Medina and Merlot. White varieties include Irsai Olivér, Zenit, Cserszegi Fűszeres, Muscat Ottonel, Müller-Thurgau and Leányka.
The Besenyei family is particularly proud of its Egri Bikavér and Egri Csillag wines. Their Bikavér has been selected as the city council’s wine on several occasions, while the winery’s Egri Csillag consistently ranks among the best each year.
