Christoph Neumeister now leads one of Austria’s finest wineries, in its third generation. Since switching to organic farming in 2013, their steep, demanding vineyards are characterized by poor, calcareous sedimentary soils and Sarmatian gravel.

The Illyrian-Pannonian climate, with its high precipitation, presents risks but also requires a great deal of manual labor, allowing for the late harvesting of a small quantity of intensely flavored grapes. As a result, the wines produced stand out for their refined, deep, and complex character, with a sense of inner calm and a clear sense of origin—distinguishing them from the loud, grandiose, and flashy trends of today’s wine world.
